Breakup: iKON leaves YG Entertainment

YG Entertainment has announced that all six members of iKON will be leaving the agency.

On December 30, YG Entertainment released the following statement announcing iKON’s departure:

Hello, this is YG Entertainment.

We inform you that after a long discussion with iKON members (Kim Jinhwan, Bobby, Song Yunhyeong, Goo Junhoe, Kim Donghyuk and Jung Chanwoo) about their future activities, out of respect for everyone’s opinions, we have agreed to terminate our exclusive contract after the expiration of their contractual period.

The six members of iKON will of course continue their activities as an “iKON” group in the future, and we also inform you that they will continue to communicate with iKONIC [iKON’s fans] through their official social media accounts, including their official Weverse fan community, just as they are now.

We sincerely thank iKON, who has been with us as one of the artists in our agency so far. We look forward to their future activities in a wide variety of fields, and we will encourage them.

In addition, we also thank the iKONICs who accompanied us on the iKON journey. We ask that you continue to give members your continued interest and encouragement as they prepare for a new beginning.

iKON debuted as a seven-member group under YG Entertainment in 2015. In 2019, BI, then leader of the group, left iKON and the agency.
